I use 55w HID's (from HID's Direct) for dipped beams but have also swapped the regular 55w halogen main beams for Ring Rally Sport 100w halogens.  ;)

The difference is amazing on full beam! Not entirely legal but I don't intend on having them on when someone is coming towards me and have sailed through the last two MOTs without an issue.

How well does the wiring cope with the extra current the 100W lamps draw?  Any sign of overheating?  Did you have to 'up' any fuse ratings?

Hi Richard,

The standard fuses hold up perfectly and I thoroughly checked the wiring for overheating when I first fitted them and there are no signs of any issues.

That's good to know.....I had 100W lamps in all 6 lights on my Mk1 Cavalier but they were wired through relays so the car wiring survived and an uprated alternator was fitted.  I could boil eyeballs at half a mile.... 8).  Things were different in those days... :)
