Hi all,
First of all I'd like to thank you all for your warm welcomes!
Well I picked the car up this morning, sorry I haven't got any pics yet, I've spent all day driving around & loving it!!
No major issues, a couple of niggly things that need dealing with.........
Front headlamp covers look like someone's got a scourer to them, can these be replaced or is it full unit replacement?
Front disks seriously need replacing, bad steering wheel judder when braking hard at speed, worse when lightly touching the brakes.
Passenger wing mirror loose, doesn't engage positively & can be pushed back & forth quite freely. While I'm on the subject of wing mirrors......the drivers one is yellow & the passenger one is clear, is this right? Also when selecting reverse the passenger wing mirror drops to view the kerb but the drivers one doesn't, is this correct?
I need to get another key, only came with 1 (sigh, where are all these missing keys?!)
Apart from these annoying but minor issues I absolutely love the car, it looks fantastic in black with the privacy glass, running boards & mesh on the front bumper.
Thanks again to all & I promise to put photos on tomorrow.

Glad you're enjoying it.....
Headlight lenses are not a separate item but you can get kits that will repolish the plastic fronts with some elbow grease and care.....Raj is your expert in these things.
Brake discs can be done DIY. OEM use PAGID or TEXTAR parts and you can get those from Eurocarparts - normally there's a discount code floating about on the forum too.
A yellow mirror is a sign that the electrochromic layer has failed. That needs replacing.
Only one mirror dropping is correct. Should be the nearside one.
Can you get the selling Dealer to pay? The mirror glass isn't cheap at somewhere above £100 a pop! If the discs are shot they should pay for those too in my book, and sort the loose mounts out.
Spare keys are really a Dealer sourced item.....and not cheap either. It's annoying when only one turns up as the car comes with three - one is only a plastic valet key though.

If it annoys you (as it does me) the dropping of the N/S mirror in reverse can be disabled by flicking the mirror adjuster switch over to the other side.

[/quote] It used to annoy me to on the X5 so that's what I did, it does the same on the M3 so I flick it across to the other side.

Mentioned to the dealer today about the discs & he got a bit arsey saying that the car I px'd had a shot clutch & he wouldn't be able to re-sell in its current condition. I told him he shouldn't of sold me (or anyone else) the x5 in its current condition (with the knackered discs).
I really can't be bothered to go down the route of legalities etc so I forked out for the discs & pads today @ £119 the lot from Euro Car Parts. I'll get 'em fitted tomorrow.
I'll make my way through the other bits at my expense (as infuriating as it is) but this dealer seems like the kind of guy to not upset!

Sounds like you'd get a better job done by doing t yourself anyway.
Discs n pads a doddle on these.
There are a few other jobs that are a little more complex but nothing is insurmountable.
Someone on here would either have done it, or had it done so never hesitate to ask the questions

Very nice. Good to you taking the X into the woods to give the pictures authenticity.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Tidy looking motor. I have been looking around a few car lots today and saw an 04 for sale in black . It was a dog ! They wanted £10, 750 for it too.
I looked at a few before I got mine, I was on the verge of calling it a day, as I had given up on finding a half decent one.

Thanks Horizon, it took me a while to find this one. All the others I looked at in my price range were disgusting, not even seen a damp cloth or vacuum! As well as others with dents, scrapes, missing trim etc & they were all around the £9k mark! I doubt they'll ever sell 'em unless they drop the price drastically or sort hem out.
Mine is admittedly without fault but (touch wood) nothing too major & only minor issues which are not urgent fixes.
Every time I look at my new motor I smile & I love it!!!
