Personally I wouldn't bother converting an 8-10yr old car, I would sell it as is and look for one already converted.  There are plenty around and they are not a lot more (£500-£800) than unconverted ones.  Look for one that has the LPG filler hidden away in the rear bumper under the tow bar cover, drilling a hole in the rear wing is just lazy.  Prins VSIs seem to be the most recommended systems.

If you went through the effort of finding a good clean X5 regardless of age why would you triPle your work load by selling it and then narrowing your search to find a good condition X with LPG? I you have a good clean car and your happy with and plan on keeping it for the foreseeable future then convert it.

I live in Sunderland, not far from where your picture is!

I've just converted my 53 plate 4.4 and to be honest although the conversion is brilliant I seem to be only getting 15mpg atm. This is around the doors I admit but I was expecting more than that??
I'll be towing my caravan to France again this year so I should get a good idea what it does on a long run.
I do know that on a motorway at 70 mph I get in the mid 20's so on gas it will be 34-38 mpg.
My conversion is a BRC which is the benchmark for LPG..... imo  :P

If you decide to go the lpg route ,a couple of suggestions re installation

It usually fits in the boot where the spare wheel is and replaces it  --get some repair goo in the tyres.

make sure braided pipe is used, solid wall tube will break after lifting tank  a few times.

See if you can get access to battery without lifting lpg tank.

Get as larger tank as possible, I've got a 95 litre Stako in mine ( you will NEVER get 95 litres in it, 75litres is the

maximum i've got in)

Hope this helps
