You know, the X3 blew me away with its handling prowess - seriously impressive, and the manual was very good fun and suited it very well.  It's just that some cars are expected to have an auto and the 3.0d was one of them.

Tried auto trader and the like for ages - loads of enquiries but interest waned when told it was a manual (the so and so's should have read the bloody advert!) . In a bit of desperation, I advertised it for free in the Sunday Times. Called at 10am, car gone the next weekend!

Moral: there's always a market for any car. I was lucky though - the dealer trade-in offers were awful.

Whats that funny stick looking thing with numbers on it in the middle of the pic Don  not seen anything like that before  :o

Also Mods, where's the Crap Parking Smilely  ::)  This photo deserves one for the steering wheel position  >:D

I know, I know.  I didn't go for the auto box on the F10 as I was looking purely at fuel economy.  However, within seconds of driving it off the forecourt I realised I'd made a mistake as the F10 deserves an auto box.

As for the steering wheel (picky!) I was taking some pictures of the car and had the wheels turn to enhance the pictures  ::)

In fairness Don, the 520d is one of those cars thats hard to decied between Man and auto. when I got mine nearly 3 years ago there were a couple of very nice man cars but I knew hand on heart the auto was the only way to go. As I said in another thread, the bmw auto/diesel is a very hard combo to beat. You did some miles in the F10 in a short time frame so it can't of been that bad.

It was a very good car, although I never really got to grips with the clutch action.  If I wanted a spirited departure, I would have to ensure the engine revs were well up before letting the clutch go as it is an easy car to stall.  The wife is getting a new company car soon and is considering another F10 but with auto this time.  ::)

Does look nice

There was a 50i at Geneva yesterday in that colour which really looked nice

Had deep front spoiler too

Have crap I-phone pic somewhere

I like the bonnet bulge on it too, much better than the "lost the will to live" diesels

It will be interesting to receive updates on state of the interior as ownership progresses - I secretly like the contrast with body colour - given you have a similar ankle biter 'problem' to my own (though, granted, not one with an evil mirror image sitting opposite him!!)

I do really like the contrast but I'm not sure how it will hold up. I'm trying to stay on top of it, with some success.
Watch this space I guess...

I had the oyster/black interior on my last five series.  40k, a nine year old (well mannered) and a 3 year old little shitie (grandchild) and it held up very well.  I would have no problem getting this combination again.
