I've not had the problem on E53 but I had it on E36 and it was a seat element shorting out thru general
wear and tear . E36 is easy to repair , take off the seat cover and replace it .

However , E53 you cannot do that because the element is woven into the seat cover , so you have to buy
a new seat cover (I was going to retro-fit them to mine because it hasn't got any,but it's too expensive) as
Richard so rightly said .

It's probably cheaper to buy a 2/H seat from fleaBay .

Thanks for reply.  They seem to be in short supply.  Considering an upgrade in June so might consider putting wooly socks on with the thong :-(

Thanks.  I saw that one and just wasn't too sure of I could get it for less.  I'm a tight wad and saw it had no takers!
