its not fact, theres thousands on the road that dont, anyway as the few thousand needed to fix turned out to be a couple of hundred if that in parts all is well so now enjoy the car!

I have the same vibration symptoms you had and mines been diagnosed as warped front disc and is in for repair next week..

You hear all these horror stories on forums etc and it does concern me about mine,listening for any little noise/vibration  but like shadrack says there are thousands of these on the road and unfortunately you only ever hear of the bad ones..

As i said and im not wrong. All of them sooner or later needs new valve seals. All of them  with n-series engines:)

sorry but you are wrong, how you can say all is beyond me, unless sooner or later means at some point which could be when the car is 90yrs old

Especially as it's a 'few' out of thousands and thousands of 'N' equipped cars.  The US at least would have begun a class action based on your 'fact'.  Doesn't seem to be happening though..

There are bound to be a percentage with ANY vehicle with ANY manufacturer, but to imply a 100% fail rate just with BMW at those miles is too generalised rather than specific and doesn't appear on the majority of other BMW websites where you would expect 'N' series owners to be bitching like mad......wouldn't you?

Just my view of the message.....

Guys, Have You ever stripped n-series engine??? Do You know how it works? How valvetronic works? Have You ever seen valve seal after 100.000 miles? Sooner or later means round 100.000 miles.

Go across to the Porsche forums you may stand more of a chance with failed engine topics there.

And every thread refers to petrol variants with 'N' series engines.  Nothing about the diesel fuelled 'N' series.  So what about those engines?  What's the evidence to back what you are saying up across ALL 'N' series engines when the threads cover petrol versions which are less common on this board.

The problem is only with petrol n-series engines. It's about valvetronic, the little valve lift on idle. I would not call it a fail, it's just wear and design of those motors makes it so visible, puffing smoke, once you press gas. 

Well... A friend of mine has the N series engine in his BMW. Its had a shed load of work done to it, but never valve seals (or certainly not post 60,000 miles when he got it.)

It's got 250,000 miles on it now.

Oh annoying! My PDC worked brilliantly when it came back from garage (they replaced a sensor) but is now long beeping when I put it in reverse and PDC light flashing. Have tried cleaning car and putting pressure washer onto all sensors, but still no joy. What's the other common issues with PDC that could work for a bit following a new sensor, then fail again so soon?
