Les is there any chance you could put up a picture with notes on what pipe you slackened and also which wires to tap onto the separate battery and relevant terminal flash??? Much appreciated if possible
Mine is fitted to the boat and is an eberspacher, but the same principles apply .
you need to find the tic tac pump(fuel pump) and then slacken /remove the delivery side pipe.,the 2 leads going to it can be bypassed to the jump lead pos & neg and then rapidly touched to the pos conn, if it tics it is working and will eventually pass fuel.
If the pump has been starved of fuel and pipe is empty, it takes too long for the pump to pump up fuel and the time taken is longer than the start up period for the initial start up cycle and the unit cycles down.
And Mitch you are dead right re photos.

I have a webasto unit in the garage somewhere off an X5 will have to test it and if ok flog it, it is no use to me as I have petrol X5 ( when the weather improves).

Ok checked my air con unit part number is 64116916646, with acording to RealOEM, same as yours not the one for cars with aux heating, which as mine works leads me to think that the diff part number only indicate coding data.

As for unplugging the valves, I got errors but not the same as the one you get (I got left/right valve error), this could be because the valves are totally not there so can't report back an error. I would think is your case the valve unit must be reporting back a failure.

RE : "21 [033] parking heating locking valve . latent heat storage system . cut off valve"

As I could not reproduce this error by disconnecting the water valves , I did some more digging and traced the AC wiring diagrams online.

Turns out that even though I can't find this on any RealOEM picture or confirm its on my car, as it looks like an underneath the engine bay trip and its raining here, theres apparently a locking valve controlled by the AC unit for independant heating that switches the water flow I presume to only parking heater function.

I wonder if this could be the source of your problems.

(Taking my X5 in the garage Monday to do a rear bush replacement, so if I get time will take a look for this mysterious valve, pull it an see what error I get.)

Nice work Mark.

OK pin 2 is involved with this. Tried to trace the brown and white cable but lost it in the harness.

A similar wire goes to the valve under the Webasto but it looks a little thicker.

I will get the meter out over the weekend.
