I got that kit, but it is not suitable for car tyres really. I use it to fix tubeless tyres for my agriculture equipment but would not use it on high speed tyres.

I have used 'Puncture Safe' in mine before now.  Technically most RFTs should not be repaired unless the manufacturer approves, but in reality there are tyre-places that will ignore that and repair them unless there is some kind of side-wall damage or the tyre has been run on flat for some time and got too hot.  I have a patched RFT on the X6 as it only did about 5 miles 'on flat' at low speed.  The tyre pressure warning took too long to flag, but the steering suddenly felt heavy - which was a dead giveaway.

Well this is what they say on the website but that French guy who did this did not hesitate for a minute, said he always does it for his car... he did and I had no issues with the tyre since.

and on the topic - got myself a set of 4 almost new 255/50 R19 WinterContact on Style 177 rims for a £1000. Hope price is not too bad

That's a good deal.  I payed the same for a mint set of (slightly cheaper) 18s in the same style a year ago.  I like the snowflake design for winter ...

When I had a puncture last year (1.00am on the M11 coming back home to Brum!), the TP warning came on almost instantly. When I got out and inspected the punctured tyre I could still hear the air hissing out- probably due to the speed I was travelling at. No doubt at say 30mph the wheels would have to do more than double the amount of rotations for the system to register the 'slow' wheel. I.e take twice as long)

I used a tin of the Holts tyre sealant, and got back home. I could have run without but the distance I needed to travel was over than the max 'allowed'. With the family thought best safe than sorry.

As the said tyre was nearing the end of it's life I just replaced the following day.

RFTs can of course be repaired as you mentioned- as long as they havent been running flat for  a long distance. Tyre places don't normally like repairing them because obviously they can't ascertain the distance they were run for (and of course would make more on selling you a replacement!)

I now use Tyre Magic in all tyres regardless of whether or not they are run flat.  Any punctures fixed in an instant, often without your knowledge (5mm limit).  For the sake of £5.50 per tyre, well worth the cost to save hassle of getting punctures fixed etc. I also carry a compressor and puncture repair kit for any larger holes.  It's all about keeping me off the road for as little time as possible.

Just returned from skiing vacation in Switzerland.  Very disappointed that the roads were mostly cleared and weather mild so weren't very challenging.  Coped well with a lot of rain though !!

Car outside hotel en route (style 177 18 in wheels) plus monster roof box rented from roofbox2hire (who I'd recommend - we don't have storage space to keep one):

BBS RX 2 piece split rims in 18" guise with Continental Winters (9mm tread).

Meant to be a fair bit over here in the next couple of weeks starting early next week.  March is supposed to be like it was a couple of years ago so you'll soon get to try your winter set up. 

I hope so - although probably irresponsible to hope for snow / ice covered roads for those (most) drivers much less well equipped!

I'll show a comparison with one of my 11.5" rear Alpina rim...

I have a 4.8 iS E53...................My winter set up is a set of 4.4 i ( Y ) alloys.( 19 's )  Tyres  are Verdenstein wintrac extreme 255/50/19 on front and 285/45/19 on the  rear They are absolutely superb and to anyone whe is undecided about winter tyres the difference is like night and day. If you want to keep the look of you car, you can use 30 mm ( per side ) spacers on the rear to fill the arches from H & R which are superb quality. Thats what I use.

Cannot stress how good winter tyres are.
