I'm getting the impression that you all know each other quite well.

You'll get to be part of the crew for sure. The Meets are real fun and we have great banter without the rudeness.
Not a bad word to say here 99% of the time. The other 1% 'dboy' takes care of!
Have a great delivery day and feel disoned if you forget the pics! ::)

Only cos Mogs isn't around, I'm the tame one!

Lame you said? ::)
Welcome aboard, lovely M5 but I would indeed be scared of the huge potential costs.
I see you have met the resident prostitutes as well (AW8 and 535dBoy). 535dBoy used to be called 535RentBoy, so that might explain the relation and the odd equipment used by them ...
I really enjoy my E70, great driving car.

Hi,
Buy an E39 M5........they will be collectors, only 2500 RHD were made and plenty of those have seen the wrong side of a hedge and gone to the big scrapyard in the sky.
Under £10 K buys you a nice one..........stick a short shift on it, ferrodo DS2500 pads and open up the brake ducts. Then drive like you stole it and grin yourself sillyevery day. If you are flush, go to phil @ CPC Engineering and get a pair of Van Mannen stainless steel equal length extractor manifolds , 100 cell fuel cats and a re-map, ( around 3 and a bit bags )that will give you some 440 BHP to play with. IMHO the E39 M5 was, sorry Is the only car you will ever need. Thats why I have driven one for the last 10 years. I dont think I will ever get rid of it. I have done 126,000 very happy miles in it.
Just my humble opinion,
Regards,
Nat.

I'm sure the E39 M5 is a great car but I need to get sensible for a year or two at least.
The idea of keeping my license for a while and driving the X5 appeals very much.
I worked as a design engineer at Ascari for a number of years, we used this M5 V8 in the blunt end of it.
Mount tune did the engine developement gaining a reliable 500 bhp 510Nm for the KZ1 road car with the owners own A10 (the yellow one on the Top Gear titles) tuned to 625 bhp 560Nm.
BMW certainly can produce a good engine when they put their minds to it.
Enjoy your M5 but for me "I'm out"

Welcome aboard and congrats on the purchase.
I too did as you have and went from an E60 M5 but to an E53 4.8is. I like you did always feel like I was either going to lose my licence of my life in it as it just always better you to throttle it everywhere (especially with a custom exhaust and BBK's LOL). Don't miss the worry of clutch failure or the red cog of death for the gearbox lol.
I love the X5 tbh and can't see myself selling her. Even though the opportunity arose recently to buy back my E60 M5 for a lot less than I sold her for.....hmmmm
