... No doubt BMW will be having words with BBS (assuming they still make your particular wheel type) to find a fix.

The 18" winter wheels I bought were made by Ronal, fwiw. Still look great but some crud growing on the inside where nobody will see it.

Had all 4 of mine replaced for the 2nd time under warranty on Tuesday. They'd been on back order for several months.

The finish on these is different to the previous sets and I was informed BMW have changed manufacturer, they don't look quite as dark as the previous wheels and the finished edges not quite as sharp, this to improve quality of lacquer adhesion.

lets see how long these last??

Ashway - so are they better or worse looking than the originals?

Very similar, the dark paint on the inside of the spokes is not quite as dark as the original set, but unless side by side you'd be hard pressed to notice. The overall finish does look higher quality

I've been waiting about a month now, this will be my 4th set on a car that's done 21k!  Interesting that they are now a new design, hopefully this will prove more durable.

Mine were approved on 12/4 and I'm still waiting.  I have chased up a few times but I'm stating to think they are taking the piss a little.  Build times are shorter......

What is the time frame for BMW's wheel warranty? Will they only change them on a car that is still under the manufacturers 3 year warranty?

Ive put a deposit on a late 2010 40d x5 m sport at bmw dealer, car has just turned 4 years old and the 333m wheels are terrible, its about 3/4- 1" of corrosion around all centres, I told salesman I wanted them changed and he said he would ask but doesn't think they would as car is 4 years old. Said he could have them refurbed but in paint which I've said is no good.

Usually under warranty only.  You should be able to get them re-lacquered by the Dealer.  Sounds like the previous owner ignored the problem though several owners have had more than one set replaced for this.

They would not replace them under warranty as the car was out of the 3 years manufacturers warranty. They offered to paint them but didn't want that, got a bit more discount and a years tax so I can get the diamond cut properly myself

I had my wheels re-finished by the dealer (via a wheel company) on my car before I collected it.

My car was AUC and had the tell tale signs of corrosion around the hubs etc.

When I collected the car the wheels looked mint. 6 months later they had all corroded again and surprise surprise the dealer wasn't interested in fixing the problem as clearly I was washing the wheels wrong!!!! Body shop sent me to sales person, sales person back to body shop. I eventually gave up arguing with them over it and had the alloys stripped and painted myself, as I could see that re-finishing them would eventually lead to more issues.

Bottom line BMW dealers and polished wheels are a nightmare!

Get them painted, having them diamond turned is a waste of time as they will ALWAYS go bad.

Hi guys,
Which 20" wheels are you referring to? Are they all the same pattern.
Just interested as I am taking delivery of a 06/11, 28K, X5 4.0D M Sport with 20" M double spoke 333 wheels next week and the sales guy says that one of the wheels had to be replaced as it was cracked (mentioned this on another post). I have to say that all wheels appeared to be in pristine condition and car had not been prepped when we test drove it, but I will have a closer look when we collect it.
Anyone else had the cracked wheel issue as I understand it is a known issue and sales guy said that BMW had authorised replacement wheels FOC up to 6/7 years old!!
