Hope you can help guys.
Recently lost my nav menu and the screen is being driven from the TV unit. DVD still has power but tried to replace software via normal door open etc. and I do not get the software info just goes straight to basic menu. It was running v32 with 2013 maps fine. I have done battery reset on car, DVD, TV unit, checked for damage on ibus etc. but no luck.
Anyone around the Northamptonshire area with a spare DVD I could try? Or any other ideas?

Sounds like your DVD based Mk4 satnav unit is playing up. Try disconnecting and reconnecting it. Then try an original nav disc. You may have to reinstall the firmware though (if the nav still works). That means installing a previous version first and then back up to v32.

Thanks Sanj. Powered down and left for half an hour. Tried original nav disk but no joy. Do you know what version software was before 32 (hopefully not an obvious 31)?
DVD unit takes disc, tries to read and then I get the read light flashing so assume it cannot read anything.

When mine did that, it was knackered - luckily replaced under warranty as it is a ridiculous price from BMW, around £2K !!!! It is often a laser problem which can be sorted fairly cheaply by a number of repairers, or you can try the repair yourself if handy with a soldering iron. Google is your friend

Found a place in Bradford on the bay of e that exchanges or repairs nav units. Will ring them tomorrow. As the unit is not reading any disc and screen does not even tell you there is a disc missing anymore I am assuming the worst. Typical as just in the process of removing plate to sell!
Thanks

That's what mine did - no amount of reboots etc did anything. luckily its a plug and play repair and getting the laser repair done via one of the electronics places that do them, is not too expensive. Good luck with the sale, have just sent away for plate retention on our SLK to sell.

Cheers CondorX5. I was planning on selling private till this fell over. Now toying with trade in. Might be worth chucking a few quid at nav first. Good luck with your sale too.
