Hi All, going through the problems on my 2006 X5 3.0d Auto

I am getting a low hum/vibration on the car at about 2500 rpm, this get louder the harder you accelarate, then goes about 3000rpm.. the car has done 89k

My friends Garage ran the code Scanner and the only fault i am getting is EGR valve which will be coming off soon, any ideas if this would cause the Vibration? any others had this issue?

Thanks in advance for any information

Sends the power front/rear in essence.

Not heard of just removing the fuse but trying to check if the vibration is coming from the front axle components (diff, propshaft, etc).

Thanks Raj, will it be ok to drive with the fuse out or will throw up codes, create other problems?

Cheers Jim

You will have all lights on dash (4x4,abs etc), dont worry, you can not damaged it. You can drive it for as long you want. Do it when engine is off.

kkx5, i assume these lights will require to be hooked up to an external device to reset or will they reset themselves one the fuse is replaced?

Pretty sure they just come up as shadow errors once the fuse is replaced. Basically means that the error will be stored to show that there was an error at some point but won't display on the dash etc.

The lights will reset themselves,  errors in shadow.

So i pulled the transfer box fuse before setting off for work this morning (fuse No. 46 in my X5!)

Big difference in the vibrations i was experiencing when at low revs and gently accelerating!  :ok:

Also noticed a slight whine that i hear when accelerating had gone as well along with slightly smoother gear changes (which could just be me now that the vibrations are almost gone)!

Bad news is whats the next step to make this magic work with the fuse back in place!  ::)

mine seemed smoother with the fuse pulled also, not really sure if i,m ready to spend 650 + Labour for the slight vibration at the moment..

Thinking of another options, wonder if an Oil change on the xdrive may help until it shows up as a fault..! i dont have any fault codes or lights showing at the moment

I thought that price of £650 included labour... Bargain if so!
