Hi Guys,
Just need some advice weather its essential for a E53 X5 facelift to have a inspection service 2. Also what are the differences?
Anyone know any good BMW Indy garages in West Yorkshire? Heard Cramag in Yeadon are quite good.
Thanks
Shahid

I didn't think the diesels had an Inspection 2, only oil changes and Insp 1? Every second Insp 1 the fuel and air filters get changed - though to be honest the air filter will need doing well before that.
Sequence is:
Oil
Insp 1
Oil
Insp 1
Major oil service - more expensive than Insp2!
.......and repeat.
See this
thread on the site from 2011.

Hello.
Unless you require very bespoke specialist diagnostics/work then try the following garage:
http://www.moorfieldgarage.com/ (Bosch Service Centre)
I get most of my of my work done there, its in Yeadon Leeds, they do excellent professional work and prices are very reasonable, significantly cheaper than most other places.
As for servicing I usually ensure oil and filter change every 7000mls, which for me is yearly. Every two years which for me is 15000mls I will have all the filters, air, fuel, pollen, and diesel breather changed.
I guess if I was driving higher mileages I may look at a more planned schedule. Sometimes although Inspections I and 2 are good , they are expensive and not much is replaced.
So I prefer the strategy above especially for older vehicles, ie, outside warranty, mines a 2004 X5 facelift 3.0D
Thanks

My usual dealer (Wellsway) don't recognise Inspection 2 on the 3.0d Sport.
I change the oil and oil filter mid service. It's crazy (IMHO) to run 24,000 as the interval indicator suggests, even with 7.5 litres of synthetic Castrol.
I've never changed the air filter, I leave it to the dealer service.
