Scanner 1.4.0 help, much needed

I have to start right at the beginning, how do you even install this on your computer ?
there are only two files on the disk relating to 'Installation guides', One being for Windows 98, and the other Windows XP
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, which looks like a 32 bit
There were no other instructions.
Blindly I clicked on the install set up, it ran very quickly, too quickly I think.
Computer does not recognise cable and plug when I attach it, and I have no icons, or links in the Start menu, so I don't think that worked.
Any advice appreciated
Thank you

I am sure I got this working in xp mode.

it might not work on home but I am sure a google search will give you the answer.

The computer will not recognise the lead, as the actual box is powered from the car, not the PC. Plug it into your OBD2 port and retry. Loading the drivers is the key, if it says no drivers installed when you power it from the car, search the net or the forum in a way to install the drivers.
When my scanner arrived the disc had no data on it so I downloaded the PAsoft? Software off the net, then copied the drivers in to my documents then via device manager installed the drivers from my documents and it worked. I did it on XP, supposedly easier than win 7, but the win 7 drivers are now readily available on the net.
It was a couple of years ago now, so the memory is faded.
First step plug it inthe car and it will prompt you to turn the ignition on, then see if it works first

Mine was on an XP machine but still did the same as you Ant the first time round.
Plug it into the car and then laptop and then install the drivers was the way I had to do it.

Poofed my way into the car
and more by luck than judgement I managed to link the laptop with the car, NOW what do I do, where do I go to understand what all the error codes mean ??
I was looking for why my alarm had started going off on its own, it was after driving in very heavy rain on the motorway and I wondered if the bonnet sensor was damaged/wet/shorting ? So I tried looking under EWS - Electronic Car Immobilisation System as there is an error there.
Firstly 'well secondly, as firstly was, where do I go to see what the error codes mean' Is this the right section to look for faults in the alarm ?
Thirdly - what does the error code "0F[015] power on reset" mean ?
Ta

Have you scanned the car first . Click on scan, this scans the car and then highlights
how many errors are in each module then you can open each module individually
There is a list of what's in each module on here somwhere
