Not a happy bunny, I ordered and have received a scanner 1.4.0 complete with (small software disc) software, cable etc, I have tried loads of different ways to load the software and it ain't having any of it........the software is for xp or 98, I run windows 7 and the advert on ebay defo said it good for windows 7 and it will not recognise the software on the disc........can anyone help me out here, I have looked at all the stuuf on the net and tried everything, am I missing owt???

My disc was corrupt, so I downloaded PA Soft off the net. Copy the drivers into your documents, then once the software is loaded, right click  my computer , then click on manage, or device manager. Click on BMW scanner, when it expands it will say add driver. Click on it a a search for driver in a specific location. Go to my documents click on the correct driver fo win 7.
All done from my poor memory, so may not be correct. Good Luck ::)

Try this one, I can't remember which site I got it from, it was a couple of years ago now

I'm pretty sure it only works on 32-bit versions of Windows 7 . Doesn't work on 64-bit.

it works on windows 7  x64 , well mine does anywhoo . its a driver issue i think

It's just a driver issue, I posted a link to e46Fanatics that had step by step instructions for W7 64bit and it worked perfectly for me. I'll try and find it later.

I'm on W8 64 now and haven't tried the scanner since, anyone got it working ??

I have emailed the guys in hong kong and explained my woes and they have replied telling me that the scanner will only work on windows 7 32 bit, it will not work with the 64 bit version of windows as there are no compatible drivers.....lol...it did say that in the advert (didnt see it!), they offered me money back but I have decided to just buy an old laptop with xp loaded for £20 or so and all will be good.....lol....I may just leave the new laptop in the truck as an accessory for when Im bored when away

It's only a copy of PA Soft , others have got it working on Win 7 64 bit. There are drivers out there you can use for 64 bit.
Everyone has a fun ! Time getting it to work, it should be made plug and play really.
I also bought a cheap laptop off EBay and put my version on there, you could have bought mine with the software already loaded but it's running very slow for some reason.

I can't imagine PA soft wanting it to be 'plug and play'.  The copies are not entirely legit (and quite possibly not even slightly so) and a proper version costs a good deal more than we can get it on Fleabay.....so hardly likely to attract OEM driver support!

Having a bit of trouble/dont understand how to get the screens up with the tick boxes so I can change things....any ideas?

See my earlier response to your separate thread about the aux heater on. Maybe post a screen shot of what you are seeing and we can point you in the right direction
