Hi guys

My 2005 3.0d is not getting up to temp, the gauge hardly gets to the 1/4 mark, even in the recent warmer weather, using my intravee and OBD the coolant temp is normally around 67c and on the motorway is about 74c, will this be detrimental to anything on the car as the ecu thinks the engine is cold? Will this affect performance/fuel use?
Also read that these cars have two thermostats?

If the car doesn't come up near enough to normal operating temp then the gearbox and engine will remain in 'cold' mode which will affect both the shift points and fuel economy.

There are a number of threads on here about changing the stats.

Sounds like a knackered thermostat.

I had the same issue a few months back.

Changing the stat is easy...

You will need 2 x 32mm spanners to loosen the viscous fan & remove.

Remove the rad top air intake cowling, the intake pipe to the air filter also.

You will need an "E-Torx" socket to undo the tiny bolts holding the stat on...
And do not over tighten when replacing.
Clean the sealing face on the block with a stanley blade to remove surface debris
(taking care not to cut the face surface) & re-assemble with a drop of silicone on the seal face edges & the block.

This job should  take no more than 1hr.

The hard bit is threading the viscous fan back onto its original thread... patience & swearing usually suffice..
It will either take ages... or find a thread on the 1st attempt lol

Really appreciate the help, going to try and tackle that when I have a few days spare, also when plugging the car into diagnosis it shows all 6 glowplugs as failed, the car starts on the first turn so not overly bothered at the moment, believe it is probably the control unit but would the plugs not working cause the engine to run colder?

No.  With the current air temps you should not need the glowplugs anyway.
