Amps Speakers & Subs installation

For some time I have had this Sub-woofer with a built in Amp, it's a slim-line profile to potentially go on a bulkhead or under a seat....

I was wondering if any members have fitted anything like this & where they fitted one... ? ? ?

There isn't enough room under the boot floor, and a fuel tank under the rear seat...
so...
I was wondering about sliding it under the passenger seat (as my seats are set not too low) or on the back-upright of the narrower of the rear seat backs ....

I also wondered about locating it under the carpet high up on the bulkhead in the passenger foot well...

***I need two speaker feeds, so presuming it's easiest to take these from the centre door posts feeding the rear door speakers ? .. .. wondering if the speaker wires make themselves obvious ??

Power can come from the jump start points - as it's easy & the amp fuse can be accessed easily too I guess.

Mean while, if any one has fitted such a thing in an X5, I'm open to all good information.

Re door speakers, any one know of any spare going, as mine are sounding tired & rattley nowadays..

Regards to all.

The 'standard' location was in the right side boot cubby for those who had 'DSP' specced cars.

There may be a few folks on here with the sub enclosure available.  A member of the forum made them in the past so those getting rid of cars may have taken it out and have it in their shed/garage etc....

Ahhh, yes, the boot cubby.

I have mine filled with tow rope & tools etc...
I think this sub unit will fit in there...

Is there any "Line-Out" connectors on the head unit in the dash or the auto changer gubbins in the left side cubby storage where the Nav & CD Changer live . . . does any one know please ?

I have removed the 2 plastic trays to the front of the boot, towards rear seat, and bolted a pair of 10" under the boot floor section.
I had removed the carpet and drilled a series of 12mm holes for the "grill" and re carpeted.

Upshot is no one knows they are there, until its turned on, and don't lose any boot space.

Amps are in the cubby to drivers side below my 2nd battery!!

Only issue is rehoming the few tools that were located in those trays.

Most of the tools don't need to be in the car - I'm just a doomsday prepper re tools lol...

Re Line out's - is there a feed point anywhere in the boot nr the Nav unit or Disk Stacker ?

There will be no standard line outputs anywhere!!

However you can get the amp modified to get them..

I have used speaker to line convertors as I have the single cassette business non nav hobby!!

Then once I had cabled everything in found the speaker level harnesses for my amps typically!! :-[

Just a thought, isnt there a Blue connector in the off side rear cubby that connects to the Sub if fitted by BMW

That blue connector is for the original DSP equipped cars. It won't work with standard or hi-fi upgrade versions.

I have the custom sub-enclosure too. That fits right into the right-side panel - you don't lose any boot space. The amp that powers it is in the left-side compartment under what would have been the CD changer area. I have the Intravee so no need for the changer. The car has hi-fi speaker upgrade spec and I just changed the front door speakers for better component ones. Sound is fine for my needs.

I removed my BM54 unit and sent it to carphonics. They fitted 2x rca outputs and I also had the stage 2 upgrade done at the same time. Sound quality is excellent and I just used a normal sub and amp in the boot.
