Stupid queation of the day......

I am having 20" wheels / tyres fitted tomorrow, which will of course be balanced.
I have 30m spacers on the rear and I am not 100% sure if I will keep them on or not - I have 19" wheels currently and like the wider look, but the new tyres will be 30mm wider and not sure if it will be too wide if I leave the spacers on.
I was going to have the wheels fitted, see what it looks like with the spacers on and if I think its too wide then I would whip the spacers off.

If I do this - do I need to get the wheels re-balanced ?

I know, I know - I over think things probably too much !

No need to rebalance unless you are having it done 'on the car'.  Balancing normally done on a machine off the car but it can be done in situ with special kit.

I wonder if anyone has a picture of their E53 on 20" wheels running 30mm rear spacers ? Long shot I know but thought I would ask !

You may have issues with projection from outside wheel arches...
Mine are on the limit and I have no spacers....

You don't say which model E53 you have.
My honest opinion is that they would protrude too much, but it's a personal thing, unless of course it becomes a legal one.

I just got back from the tyre fitters and they fitted the 20" wheels with the spacers still on and asked me to pop out and see what I thought. They protrude way to much - almost Wacky Racers looking !
So I got them to remove the spacers and they look way better.

Now assuming the tyre fitters looked after the bolts I think I may have a set of 30mm spacers for sale very soon !
