Just bought another X5.....it doesnt have sat nav , can the widescreen satnav be retro fitted ( is the wiring already there? )

The wiring is not in place and if you can get the complete parts list from BMW the cost is prohibitive.  The interior needs to come out to run the loom in.  They quote over 12 hours to do the job which gives you some idea of what needs doing.

TBH you would be much better off buying a Garmin device for about the same price as a single map disk (£200).  At least a new stand alone unit will read and work with 7-digit postcodes which the Mk4 doesn't.

You can get after market headunit said, they require you to cut out the support brackets for the original radio, I had a Dynavin which I fitted in my non nav X5, they use the original wiring via a patch/ converter loom, similar to wiring in a parrot, Andrive head units are also available. Do a forum search, it's been covered a few times.
As X5 sport says a garmin or Tom Tom is easier.
I fitted an aftermarket unit in my MK6 golf, that unit was easy to fit and used the original fixings and was superior sound to my OEM, unfortunately they don't make that brand for the E53.
