I'm sure this has been asked before, however the thread I found is not that recent
Seen that both 5w30 LL04 and 0w30 LL04 are correct, so would be interested in hearing what people are using.
From what I've read, Castrol Edge appears to be a popular choice, what else can anyone recommend?

Castrol Edge FST is the OEM oil. As long as it meets ACEA C3 (and BMW LL04) and is fully synthetic there are plenty of options including Mobil, Castrol and Opie.
Your choice as to 0w30 or 5w30. Both get used by dealers.

Cheers guys.
Managed to get 4l of Castrol Edge 5w30 LL04 for under £31 delivered so not unhappy with that.

That's not too bad, although you'll need about 7L for a full oil change!
Don't bother wasting money on 0w30 either, unless you plan on finding somewhere at -20C to drive in
Halfrauds do some good offers from time to time on their own and other brands of oil, worth having a look when it's change time. I've used their own brand fully synthetic and it works as well as any other...
Then there's Opie Oils etc etc

I've not bought for oil change, checked the oil level on Sunday and at minimum so just want to have some for top up in garage.
Will do oil change before end of year though.

Ah so, that makes sense
Oil change tip for anyone that's interested- a cat litter tray makes an excellent catch can for draining oil into. The sloping sides make access to the drain plug easier, and the one I have will hold a good 10L of liquid before it starts overflowing...
