I have now bought a 4 bike carrier but my lights are obscured whats the best option for a light board,are there any plug and play if not what else is available?

it looks like there is a socket in the boot to plug into,where do I get a cable to suit?

You will need the towbar wiring kit to do that.

Would be best to go for the proper module installation kit as will help in resell and will take care of the interfacing to the dashboard and the bulb failure stuff....

Also wil turn off the reversing sensors when plugged in to stop teh continual tone of spotting the bikes!!!

Give pfjones a call they'll sort you out a kit with relay ect.

just make sure they dont just splice to the rear lights...

best way to blow the LCM module...unless you use an appropriate bypass relay kit...
In which case the proper module would still be your best bet....

Use the proper kit - PF Jones provide.  As above, you'll blow the LCM (Lighting Control Module) and they are VERY expensive to replace as it controls all of the vehicle lighting.

If they're using the right kit then fine, but unless they understand BMW wiring, don't let them Scotchlock the wires!

Local company were going to use a generic kit so I have ordered a specific kit from pfjones and am going to have a go at fitting it myself

do I have to disconnect the battery to plug the lighting connector in,dont want to have to remove the spare wheel if I can help it,can do without pulling my back out 

Ideally yes.

There is a strap that will help 'lift' the wheel.  It hooks over the lower tailgate (into two slots in the top edge) and when you open the tailgate it lifts the spare....
