BMW DAY Santa Pod 27/09/2015 PHOTOS ADDED

Post by X5patX5 » Mon Sep 21, 2015 12:47 pm

Anyone going to Santa Pod this weekend?

Gonna take my banger up there and try to blow it up on the quarter mile  ;D

Last time I went to Santa Pod i think was 2007 in my E30 M3, M5 conversion and from what i can remember it was a bit poor, but i enjoyed the quarter mile run, will be different this time in my X5 but i will give it a go. If i can get 16secs or less i will have a big fat smile on my face.

Perhaps in a few weeks time - a good friend of mine is attempting to break under 9 seconds.

I might try and get up on the Sunday in the X6, last time I was there I ran a 13.0 @ 106mph in my mk6 golf, so if I can get into the 12's I'll be satisfied

X6 M should do a 12s run and would be interesting to watch. My X5 i must admit surprised me, i am not going to say it is fast cause its not, but for its size and weight it does move and I will be taking it for a blast just to see, plus its a bit of fun, at the pod so far i have had

14.9 @ 105mph in my E30 M3 Cabrio with an M5 conversion
16.1 @ (cant remember the speed) MK3 Golf Cabrio VR6 conversion

If i get anywhere near the above i will have a smile on my face considering the amount of money i spent on the above.

R33 GTR that would also be interesting to watch

I like the sound of your e30 with the m5 engine ; looking at your rather poor time with a decent terminal ; I'm guessing you had massive traction issues :)

Ps not sure what X5 you had but I had an E70 40d that was mapped by Jason at BW and I can tell you now , it was rapid !

Thanks, top speed on my E30 M3(M5) was around 167mph but for take off it was horrible the clutch slipped a lot i done a 25's run also and smoked the clutch all the way down the track  :)) but i did put it together myself and had no idea what i was doing. I also did not know the value of the car either sold the original engine for £750 to buy the M5 engine the guy bit my hand off, it was over done but i was young and a bit slow LOL, the guy who bought it off me has looked after it and i know its valued at quite a good price now also.

I only have a 3.0d X5 Sport 2001 so not that quick but i love it

here is an engine pic

It is an awesome piece of kit - one of the best in the country by far in terms of performance and looks. Recently at TOTB but with a couple of technical issues... will get you a YouTube link in my lunch break.

There are others with faster runs, but this one shows how aggressive the launch is.
