As your aware I'm on the look out for a face-lift v8 e53, somebody mentioned to me about a common problem with the transfer pipe seal and he said it's pretty much a complete engine strip down.........is this true? Does it affect all v8's? I'm looking at a 54 plate v8 tomorrow so any help would be great.
If it is the case then I think I will start looking at the 3.0 petrol or diesel versions
Thanks guys
Matt

I would stop reading !! If you look hard enough you will find horror stories for every make and marque there is. In reality 99% of owners will keep a car 3 to 5 years and most will have no issues other than normal wear and tear.
If you buy any used car your part way into that cycle so expect the possibility of some bills, you can reduce the impact by buying a Warranty.
My personal experience of 2 V8 E53 X5's is good and enjoyable, find the best you can negotiate the best deal you can and enjoy.
