Bluetooth phone setup - Text message (sms) not working...

I've scoured this forum and the wider web but can't figure out how to get the car to show up my text messages when I get one (when I'm in the car)... I have a blackberry Q5 and from what I read the sms set up is possible with blackberry/android phones. The phone is all linked up successfully and I can make/receive calls no problem.
Anybody have any experience with this?!

Should come up under Telephone messages. It worked on mine back in the day, but that was a built in SIM. Our E46 read SMS from Nokia 6310i with no trouble.
Are you seeing the envelope symbol on the screen in the car?
But, the E53 had limited Bluetooth capability and if memory serves only supported up to something like version 1.4 (we're now on version 4). It may be that the issue is in the text language version in use (not the spoken one!) by Blakberry which is far advanced upon the pre-Android system fitted to the car.

Hmmm.... sounds feasible, but a shame as it would be a nice little feature I think!! It does have 'SMS' as a menu item but when you enter it, nothing happens.
Loving the bluetooth phone setup still to be honest, never had that before and it's great. This car must've been really cutting edge back when it was made, still seems amazing now!

My ancient Sony Ericsson used to manage the SMS very well in its day, but newer iphones etc seem not to do it anymore - as said, the system is ancient by todays standards, luckily it still works well for voice !
