What does the factory jack look like?

I gather from other posts that it has a special shape. Our car came missing its jack. If I am to find one on eBay, it would be helpful to know it looks like. So far, there are two different types on eBay touted for the E53.

I think mine had an 'L' jack.

Realoem shows both.  The pad that fits into the chassis slot is the same.  Is there not a picture on the place it fits in the boot?  Some have a little line drawing on the plastic cubby slot where it should be.

I only ever changed the wheels with a trolley jack, which is perfect as long as you are home of course!!

Well, I've never seen what came with the car, so I'm a bit in the dark as it were.

There's this type: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-2001-BMW-E53-X5-JACK-SPARE-WHEEL-TOOL-/111833392880?hash=item1a09ca26f0:g:aBEAAOSwgNRV8fIJ&item=111833392880&vxp=mtr

Then there's this type:http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-2003-BMW-X5-E53-Jack-/262145448308?hash=item3d09161974:g:06MAAOSwMTZWSKVS&vxp=mtr

Just like it shows on the realoem link you sent: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=FB72-EUR-12-2004-E53-BMW-X5_30d&diagId=71_0229

Somehow eBay still thinks I live in the colonies (been in yurrup 22 years) so I'm wrestling with them to let me see items for sale here in France.

I suppose either jack would be OK ... as long as it fits the boot.  Would you happen to know if the slot in the boot differs for each type of jack?  We have a coldndark problem outside of the house now, so I'll take a pic of the slot in the boot tomorrow and post it.  The two jack types are different enough that I bet the storage slot differs too.

I did manage to wrestle eBay over to yurrup after 25 minutes on hold.  Damn yank customer service is quite good. ::)

I thought there was a container at the back of the boot that it all went into?

Understand the coldndark challenge!  Here it's darknwet!

The various components of tyre changing are distributed left, right, fore, aft, around the spare alloy wheel and tyre. Under that roadwheel is a bell-shaped dome housing the rear suspension compressor. Perhaps that option is why I don't have all the bits neatly in one pack as you remember.

I was dumbstruck to find no hits at all in eBay Germany for e53 jack. France has a few, once I find out which type I need.

Personally I would choose a scissor jack as it's more stable and secure.

Found this.  The jack is a scissor (and my wife tells me it was one) which you can just see right at the back edge here:

It's clipped to the forward edge of the wheel well recess.

I think you hit it spot on, that looks just like mine. I'll compare tomorrow.

Thanks!

I looked at the pic on xoutpost and compared it to mine in the sunlight, which helped a lot. I have only the tow hook, lug wrench, and wheel chock. I was also missing the steel circle that holds down the spare, but I already fab'd one up from SS.

So now I'm missing the scissors jack and its handle (see red text in pic). But there is one item in the left-rearmost corner of the model trunk that TiAgX5 posted I still don't understand (see green text in pic), and it's missing in my car.

Anybody know what it is? It almost looks like a little bottle jack.

Just been to have a look for you, and it appears my whatever it is is missing.
So I'm interested as to what should be there now too.

I got a reply on the xdrivers forum. It was a trailer wiring plug adapter; euro 7-pin to 4-pin US style.  No need for that here in yurrup.  I'll put spare bulbs in that spot.
