Parking Sensors - yet another popular & annoying problem

Hi Ladies... :))

Parking sensors on my 3.0d facelift are playing up.

When put in reverse, the little orange light comes on in the button, and the internal audio sound bleeper that alerts you to distance emits an endless single tone... not pulsing, as if near an object...

It does this until the button is pressed to switch off the system.

When this awful noise is happening, I've set it up to happen with ign On & not engine,
BUT, when grovelling around the front & rear of the vehicle, I cannot hear the tell-tale clicking
that the sensors usually emit... all 8 of them are totally silent  :-[

(and NO, I'm not deaf just yet)... contrary to popular belief  :))

Any clues as to the cause of this one ?

I had a delivery today of a D/K CAN & INPA software & a pretty illuminated OBD>USB lead today, & wondered if this software would interrogate the car well enough to detect the specific fault ???

Penny for your thoughts...

INPA has the facility to measure the strength of the sensors too I believe , which is better than the BMW Scanner 1.4.0, as that's hit and miss regarding PDC diognostics, unless the sensor is totally dead.
Seems weird none should be clicking when reverse is selected, ignition on. Could be the control unit in the boot, think it lives under the spare wheel.
As you've had a water leak, hope the wheel well isn't full of Water.

Nadda,
the water was only on the rear drivers side floor.
Boot is dry.

I have 2 replacement sensors, maybe I can swap a new one round the vehicle until it works ?

Just installing the INPA KCAN software, let alone using it is about as clear as MUD.
The seller gave sod all clue of how to do it... typical.

Any one know anything about this package & how it works in any way at all ???

It's well annoying when things come through the post with no installation instructions. Above is someone using INPA to diognose sensor problem.
Try searching google for help , there maybe a few post around the different forums.
