I've just had the manifold changed due to cracking on a 2006 3.0d
What I've noticed on cold starts I'm getting smoke pouring out of both exhausts for around 30secs then it clears
If I then Rev the car up no smoke at all!!!
Just happening when it's been stood overnight or fir a long period
Any thoughts??
Thanks Adam

could be one or more of the glow plugs are duff, a very common problem, i currently have 4 showing as gone!! :'( i think the engine management detects glow plug error and overfuels to compensate for a cold start, hence the brief cloud of smoke. i have just lived with it, i have been meaning to get round to changing the glow plugs for the last 8 years!! O:-) just waiting for all 6 to go bad to get my monies worth out of the pig of a job to change them!! lol

That's ok then, it's just never done it before I had the manifold and thermostat changed so I thought it might be something to do with that

It was probably leaking from the manifold before, and now has had to find another way out.....
