I got some Drilled & Slotted Disks.... think they were Mintex or similar name..
and "Red-Stuff" pads all round...
the Red-Stuff pads get more effecient the hotter they get,and are excellent in all elements..
because they are a hard compound, they are noisey on slotted disks, but it is a reassuring noise knowing you will NEVER suffer from brake fade.
It is also an excelle t combination for towing, or if you drive routes that have a 1 mile slowing hill descent to a roundabout...
and these brakes pull you up better & better the warmer the pads get.
Also because there is zero metal mixed with the pad compound material, there is a lot gess heat generated, a lot less brake dust, and very little disk wear also.
I got my disk set of 4.. Flea-Bay for approx £220, & a Full set of Red-Stuff pads for £165.
worth every penny.

Noisey??? This set up is not noisey...its horrlible noisy. Got rid off it on mine after 1000miles >:(

Yeah.. I must agree...its a bloody awful noise actually..
however.... the braking confidence is worth it any day in my opinion.
the trade off of the noice on the particular drive route I often use is that I can ALWAYS have confidence in the vehicle..
If the front of my X5 is empailed into the rear of another vehicle.. then, Id swap that scenario for the noise any day.
My daily route takes me down hill on a 3/4 mile hill dual carriageway leading to a roundabout.
I can belt down there knowing I will have excellent stopping ability at the bottom... and over 2 years? Ive had 3 boy racers fail to stopat the bottom & end up on the roundabout centre rockery, with all 4 wheels dangling... and the engine sump left on the kerb 20 feet earlier.... and much to my amusement too lol.
