Imagine my Shock/Surprise then the feeling of dread when after a long day running around and on my daily trip to the hospital, my runflat warning light decided to light up Red, Once I reached my destination (I was only a couple miles away), I pulled out my trusty digital tyre inflation and tread depth gauge and found out the drivers front wheel had lost a shocking 0.5psi, How I managed to survive them last 2 miles, i'll never know! I now feel extremely lucky!!!!!
Anyway, Runflat light has been reset and has not dared to scare the s**t out of me yet.

Very common.  BMW thrive on scaring drivers with spurious warnings and expensive bills!

This light will come on when the ABS/DSC system detects that one of the wheels is running at a different speed than the other three. This is usually an indication of a flat tire (running slightly faster as it deflates - smaller diameter = faster rotational speed). Not sure what else can cause this to happen - variable traction/friction should be taken care of by the DSC so that shouldn't be it. Very odd.

It had been stop/start all day, so maybe she'd had enough?

Richard -  be thankful.  I had a proper 3 inch nail in the middle of my runflat just 2 weeks after buying my X3.  Managed to drive along the motorway for 12 miles before turning into an unknown town to get it plugged :-(

Why do they use such a dreaded tone?
Can they not install a Cheerful message similar to-
"Bing Bong, Excuse me Driver, but I think we may have a problem, but not to worry"
Or for more serious-
"Bing Bong, Excuse me driver, but I think were in the $h!t!!!"

Both'll work!

Be thankful,  a bmw of the future will say things back to you in a stern Germanic voice.
"your tyre preshure iz low,  pleze fix it or i will be forced to notify the proper authorities"
