Tracking in the morning

Noticed last weekend that my from near side tyre is wearing on the outside.

Suspect this is due to my hitting a curb to avoid hitting an oncoming car in the middle of a narrow road recently.

my brother in law runs an independent tyre fitters and said he won't do wheel alignment on X5's as he doesn't have the correct equipment.

Am I correct to assume that I'm ok going to any tyre fitters who can do 4 wheel laser alignment?

Going to Micheldever Tyres in Hampshire.

Sure it's bread and butter stuff for tyre places to do a 4 wheel alignment?

There's no problem here. 'Hunter' laser alignment equipment is very good, but any machine is only as good as its calibration (they need to be recalibrated at certain intervals) and the care/expertise of the person operating it. That's why it's important to go somewhere that has good recommendations.

I had mine done recently. There are 8 possible adjustments on an X5, so it may take a little longer than most cars. Make sure you get a 'before & after' read-out, so you can see what's been done.

Good luck!

I'm looking at getting mine done as soon as all the niggles have been sorted.

Got a full before and after readout.

Wasn't far out, but enough to start the near side front tyre to wear on the outside.

Sorted now and summer wheels back onĀ  :)
