First off I know it's been discussed loads of times and sorry to bring it up again, I did search the forums but not sure I totally understand what was being said :-[
I did what was told and turned on my sat Nav and have Sw 4-1/01 as my version but when I typed my postcode into it, it never showed my road for some reason and I know it should as it's not a new road, so do I need to update my software as well as get new maps?
Sorry to sound stupid, but guess I am lol

What model / year is your X? The E53 satnav is somewhat limited as it does not do full postcodes. The very latest versions of the Mk4 -mine was replaced under warranty a few weeks ago- have a menu option to store your current location by pressing a button, which may be useful.
The inability to search for a full postcode means it is less flexible / useful than a £100 Tom tom in many ways, but you can get partial postcodes - 4 rather than 6, digit.
What about searching for your town /road -does it not find it that way? Cumbersome but has always worked for me.

That firmware version is the last released for the Mk4 so only newer maps are needed.

Hi many thanks for the replys, I have a 2006 3.0D sport, I can type in my first 4 digits of my postcode then it asks me for the first letter of my road but it's not showing up in the options so not sure what I am doing wrong, I see there is a meet coming up soon in Hayes so if I can't figure it out, maybe a kind member at the meet can help me please lol

What date is on the map DVD, and is it a genuine one?

Did you remember to put the space in between the 3rd and 4th digits? It does make a difference.
Also, if the partial postcode doesn't work for you, you should be able to find your address the "long way" by typing in city/town then road name and number of property.

Hi Condor, yeah I'm sure I did, I'll sit out and play with it a bit more, maybe it's just me lol, do I need to update my maps as I am running the 06-1 disc?

Yes. Current weill be 2016-1 or 2016-2. Two versions issued each year. You have the original disc installed. It's a straight swap, old one out, new one in.

New here, so totally understood but delete the link please - can't affiliate to non OEM sites on this site.
Can get the forum in trouble.

Hmm, that's a non-OEM disk -discussions on the forum are not allowed as its a "pirated" copy /hack. , the OEM disks are main dealer only or occasionally via places like ebay.
