Can anyone help , my x3 2.0d has problems starting up first time when left over night ,it starts then stalls ,but starts up straight after and then fine all day , if the weather is warm strangley enough the car starts straight away I've had the dpf filter replaced the inlet manifold replaced also new glow plugs and fuel filter and a relay think it was dde relay , but now the car seems to lack a bit of power below 1700 revs and abit of a misfire I think but is fine when the turbo kicks in any ideas thanks

You really need to get the car scanned before spending more money.

I mentioned the inlet manifold and dpf filter that was a Previous fault last year just to rule them out , only recently replaced the dme relay and fuel filter , have plugged it to a obd 2 but no codes

Trying to diagnose my misfire at low speeds, I have found item No:7 in this diagram to be hard and worn.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpar ... Id=13_0652

It connects the air intake to the turbo, I believe this is allowing extra air into the system and the MAF is unable to read the flow properly.

A new one from BMW is £9.60.

Replaced the rubber seal, still got a slight hesitation.

However I now have a whistle when I accelerate which I never noticed before, it's not there when stationary and revving the engine.

No smoke but plenty of power still.

It sounds like one of those whistling kettles.

I also get the the exact same starting issue (although I find if I leave the ignition on for about 10s prior to starting it stays started first time)..

Can you confirm if when your ignition is turned on, is your  fuel pump constantly on or does it just prime for a few seconds?  Mine stays on constantly (wirrring noise from the fuel tank area) so not sure if this is normal?

**EDIT**  Ive just rechecked & it seems my pump does go off with the ignition on- but only after about 1 minute (after being left over night).  Is this normal behavior?

I think 'I've found the cause of the whistle, took the intake pipe off again today and found some of the tips are missing from the turbo vanes.

Quoted £1800 from BMW  £1300 from indy

No idea, i can only assume the bearings are shot as there is a rub mark inside the tube where the vanes spin

I have the same problem - did you manage to resolve it?
