Hi are you sure that they are runflats ? as the E53 usually has none runflats on the standard wheels !
Can you post a picture as if they have runflats on it is very dangerous as the E70 wheels have an extra lip on the inside to stop them coming off if you get a puncture ?

What?  There is absolutely no problem fitting run flats on an E53.  They aren't standard but they can be safely used.  I had them on mine and checked with BMW who told me there were no special requirements for the alloy rims.

What makes you think the rims are that different?

Hi look on www.bmw.com technology article . They have a second inner bead that the tyre fits into so that when the tyre deflates or punctures , stops it coming off the rim due to the high pressure exerted on the tyre . This is the reason that the run flats are harder to get off the rim . The rims have H2+ on them .
BMW dealers will not recommend interchanging wheels e53 , e70 or f15 and strongly advise not to use run flats on the e53 . Even though I have X6 wheels on mine with run flats they are the correct rims for the tyres .
The last thing I would recommend is putting the wrong tyre on the wrong wheel as the hole idea of run flats is safety if they do puncture the last thing you want is the tyre to demount .

Interesting.  Would have made me think about it a bit harder, but the Dealer assured me it was fine.  OK it was a few years back and I was more trusting than I am of late.
