Hi Folks,
Just getting this 'new to me' 2006 X5 sorted the way I wanted.
I noticed the shelf in the rear quarter is empty where most CD changers are stored,...maybe there was never one in the car before my ownership or its been taken out..
There is no program on the Satnav/computer screen which displays "CD".... only "tape" and "radio"...
I see there are two small wiring plugs lying loose in the boot tray area where the unit should go,.... will these be the ones to connect it to ??
Not sure how to upload photos from my phone yet but one is 6 wire plug and other is small 3 wire plug,...both very small...Image

Do you have an old school iPod connection in the glove box? Was under the impression that if u didn't have a CD multi changer in the boot then you could well have the other connection.

Those are the right connectors.  The official BMW Mod was to add an iThing (via its headphone socket) to the Aux port on the head unit and that allowed both CD and iThing to work.

Either the car was specced without one or it is kaput.  A replacement should just plug in and the option should appear.

It'll need to be a genuine one or made by the same supplier.  Someone on here will be bound to know the options that will fit.
