rear light clusters

Post by H-M3 » Fri Dec 30, 2016 2:19 am

Hi folks new here and I have already introduced myself on the newbie section so I thought I might have the pleasure of asking for some kind advice now. our e70 has the dreaded water ingress in the boot lights which I see is a common fault but seen videos where people are taking them out and refitting with new rubber seals??? if this is correct can I just buy the parts from dealers ad anyone have the part numbers? Secondly any recommendations as to where I can get oe side steps as my one did not come with it?

Thanks guys

Hi

Here's a link to real oem and the lights the parts catalogue for BMW, yes you can get the seals for the rear lights. And it's propbably cheaper than anew light cluster.

I'm not sure about side steps but if yours is an MSport model they didn't come with them and the side sill and arches were painted.

However, the SE versions did have the sidesteps, so I guess you could get the SE sidesteps and I would think you may also need the SE from and rear arches as the bottom of the arches is likely to be different, you will have to check this, (as it was on the earlier E53) and are black plastic rather than painted, so you may have to paint them as well,

If you have a look on realoem you could probably get the part no and cost it out, also remember to contact Cotswold BMW as they give Xdriver forum members a discount. Or possibly look on secondhand / auction sites

I used Cotswold BMW parts department, emailed them a request and told them I was a Forum member.
Brilliant quick service, worked out cheaper than buying the same bit from EBay which was coming from Latvia.
Highly recommended

My lights have a water ingress, well, 3 out of the 4.

Dealer is sorting it, probably dry them out and put them back on  :))
