Help with C110 scanner

Hi chaps. I was messing with my C110 scanner today on the car while waiting in a car park. I got onto the Vanos control section and I noticed that when I revved the engine (4.4) the line on the graph stayed flat and the figures on the previous page did not change.
Is the graph and figures supposed to alter- suggesting that the vanos is working? One of the inlet camshaft sensors shows no reading either and I do get the fault code for that. Compared to our other 4.4 mine does seem slightly less eager at low revs now I think about it. Will a faulty cam sensor stop the vanos operation?
If anyone has one of these little readers and knows what it is telling me please explain.
