Having the transmission fail safe warning coming up sometimes when I start the car, sometimes it goes off if I switch ignition off wait for wng light to go out and try again, sometimes it doesn't.
have tried switching key to pos 1 and waiting a few seconds and then switching to start pos on key, somitimes it works sometimes not.
I have just bought a Creator BM multi-system C310 scan tool which covers most of the BMW models.
The code it brings up for this fault is : 3C Transmission switch.

Any ideas where the switch is located and what it is/does.

Does it make any difference if you put the car in neutral and try starting it.

Could this be the inhibitor switch, if so then it's on the right hand side of the box on the end of the shifting mech.
Of course, I could be totally wrong  8)

Oh well, can't see me diving inside the box !! not at 74 anyway.
Have tried starting in neutral seems to prevent the trans wng, could it be that the selector switch is in need of adjustmment ?
