Hello All, a couple of questions;
I have 2005 X5 M-SPORT (with 16:9 screen I think its called) and I was wondering if I can update the Sat Nav.
The system tells me I have SW4-1/00 version.
Questions are:
(a) Do I have the latest Firmware Version, if not where/how do I get the latest version & what is it, what is involved in loading etc?
(b) If I have the latest version, where is the best place to get the latest Ireland, UK & Europe Maps?
(c) If I do get new discs with maps & utilise,  is there any detrimental impact on the inner computer or Nav system which can be caused by putting them into the system?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum, you have the latest software for your MK 4 satnav DVD system it's often referred to as V32 update disc.
The latest maps are available from BMW, or you can buy preowned OEM discs from EBay.
I have the 08-02 road maps Europe high DVD in mine as it's a late 2008 X3.
There was two versions per year released, mine being the second version of 2008.
You need the "HIGH"  version for the MK4 system fitted in your X5, not the professional disc, as that is for the CCC IDrive systems in later cars.
Discussion of fake/ non OEM discs is forbidden on this site/ forum.Image

Updating the map DVD will do no harm.  BMW would be delighted if you did it twice a year but every couple of years is fine  :)
