Hi all
going on jolly tommorow
fitted new thermostat today, at least i know the old one was faulty as only read 65c,  so filled it, bled it,
warmed up and went for run,  put the dash test no.7 on  unsure what now is normal.  it reading 95 to 97c  , is this normal for diesel ?    got home  nothing boiling steaming etc.  heater works fine. put my digital heat infra gun on the top hose  this read 88c    bottom hose was around  45 or 60 c  i forgot !    anyway  long trip planned so dont want mishaps,  gave it some welly on test drive  temp gauge sits in middle same as before  when the dash computer said 65c

Coolant has a much higher boiling point than water, saying that,as the cooling system is an enclosed system it can rise higher than 100 degrees C without any problem. It's designed to run up to 110 + as per norm without any issues.

well  you learn something every day.  got to 55 and dozens of cars and never knew that.
