E53 Newbie Queries

Hi Guys.

Just acquired a 2001 E53 3lt D AUTO for the misses.
Its done 100k miles and seems pretty solid.
It has a reasonable service history here in Portugal, but was wondering what the best plan of action is for the servicing of this going forward;
We took ownership last week only and had a general check up with my local mechanic.
We did the oil, oil filters, fuel filter as precaution, BUT what would you advise be to look at with this mileage in the future, what goes wrong, when and what the best preventative plan??

Any help\advise welcomed.

New to X ownership, even though previously owned ´97 M3 and ´03 330CD

It's contentious, but, perhaps an atf fluid and filter change, diff fluid and transfer case fluid changes would be better done sooner than later, if you intend on changing at all.

Check when coolant and brake fluid changed and change if needed.

I'd say definately change your air filter to, unless already done when got here but didn't call it out specifically?

Likely to need glow plugs and controller, as will likely go at some point (easy diy).

Otherwise it's normal, they pretty robust (except mine which is an utter pita and worst decision I ever made) so change bits like suspension, when needed.

Definitely check your crank case breathers. Likely to be the new vortex type, but better safe than sorry. If you have the foam filter, bin it and fix the plastic vortex type. Cheap and easy to do. I clean mine every oil change, but you don't have to be that often.

Otherwise stay on top of fluids and filter and enjoy.
