Radio - nothing but static???

2005 X5 M SPORT - Factory Sat Nav, CD Changer etc. Here's the problem. The radio isn't picking up any stations, nothing but static. I've checked the antenna's in the rear, connections are good. I've checked the Amp in the rear under the spare, disconnected it, checked all fuses, cleaned with electrical clearer - all good. But still not stations being picked up. I've searched high & low on the net for a reason or possible answers and nothing. Now I'm at a complete loss. Anybody got any suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

The BM54 radio unit in the boot under the spare wheel is a unit that is known to fail. There is an aerial amplifier that lives in the rear spoiler, but not heard of many failures. Without swapping out the BM54 unit it's probably not going to be a simple diognostics job.
Baris @ cartronics is the Guru with these, I don't know if you can post them to him for testing .
He does overhauls and upgrades on the BM54 and can add Bluetooth streeming/ iPod integration if required.
Maybe worth looking into if you can't get to the bottom of it.
I can see you are over in Ireland, so maybe some one local.
I think the BM54 is used in the likes of the E46 etc, so maybe readily available as a cheap swap out if needed.
