Yes and yes. I use it on the E46 and send logs to them for checking. Not had to do anything clever with it yet though.

There are a fair number on here with one. You do need their dedicated hardware such as dongles etc. The USB option may also be one of theirs too.

Their OBD2 Adapter 2 with the IOS App - forms a wireless connection between the tablet and dongle.
