Hi folks,just about to do the trans oil change on the 3.0d 2004 but cannot for the life of me find the fill plug.can someone kindly explain where it is on this model please.

Ok thanks mate.mine is a totally different gearbox though.all info on google relates o the v8 for some reason and nothing at all for a diesel >:(oh well looks like forgetting it and paying someone to do it i think.

Yep thanks mate but even more confused now.mine has the 2 plugs so they are saying you have to fill it from the bottom lol :-[how can you fill summat from the bottom.could they actually fond a bigger allen key aswell.think im gonna leave it to someone else tbh. ::)

Drain from the small plug - you get about 5.5 L out.
Total is around 11 L, but torque converter keeps 6 L or so.
So you need to do a couple of drains/fills/drives if you want to clear most of it out.
Fill through the big plug with a tube pushed up into it, there is a sort of t-piece at the end of the big hole inside.
You have to push a tube up and sideways to get it into the pan, so that it doesn't flow back out the hole straight away.
You need to follow the ZF fill procedure (assuming 6 speed auto).
Very roughly - fill til runs out, run car, fill again, run through gears, fill, make sure temp is right etc.
Check out the correct procedure though.
