Rear Hatch

I decided to get some of those springs for the struts that automatically open the upper hatch on the interior button or key. They work really well. By the looks and some rust on the struts they are original but seem to need very little assistance, contrary to what I've read it doesn't spring up in a "knock your teeth out" fashion.

Hi Henry, where did you get them, what did they cost and were they easy to fit?

Is the E70 hatch hyd strut similar to e53? If so, my part should work.

I bought new BMW high power gas struts, AND the fancy assist springs....
Does it pop up ???
Nope, not a chance in hell.
It is a tad better in hotter weather, but has NEVER pinged up as per the movie clips.. or any where close.
I checked the struts & removed both to check force & they are sooo good that I cannot start them moving even with my full body weight pushing on them... one end in hands & one end on floor...

I'm surprised at some of the comments of them not working as per the video, I initially put mine on with 3 of the washers supplied and it was far to snappy, tried with just the springs and it didn't open all the way. Works perfect with one washer, really impressive cheap little mod. Not sure if when the really cold weather arrives that I won't have to add another washer. Easy to do if necessary. As Lez says for purchase.
Glen looking at your picture I think the struts are similar, it's just that you have a fancy sleeve over your piston rod, which would quite possibly hide the additional spring. Of course I could be talking crap.
