X5 40e

Post by Tin » Mon Oct 30, 2017 10:13 am

Just wondering if anyone has a 40e?

Popped into a dealer on the weekend, and got chatting to the sales guy, 2.0i petrol engine with a electric hybrid sounds quite nice.. had a e70 40d and loved the power and practicality.

Check on USA forums, seems that there have been some serious issues in the States, talk of engines/transmissions  being replaced. Something to do with transfer of power between electric motors and engine causing excessive torque problems or over-revving of the engine as I understand it.
Also electric range can be an issue apparently. As always, great in principle but not necessarily in day to day practice  :-[.

Check out this thread for members who have gone "e":

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end

Thanks, just read through that thread and looks quite promising.. Will see if I can get a demo from the dealer for a day. :)
