All,
Whilst it was miserable this weekend took the opportunity to clean up and tidy the

• engine bay,
• resprayed the bonnet springs
• removed and cleaned the catch,
• degreased and cleaned the engine bay
• Gave the whole lot a finish with silicone based finisher I have

Pleased with the results (see pics)  - need to sort some bits and pieces under the car but just too wet even for me.

Also reading up on both diff and transfer case fluid change so that s on the cards for Feb – cannot believe you need to take both front bash plates off and the bolts on the metal diff protector are one time use as they are stretch bolts – really !! Anyone reused these at all?

Also do 4 of these bolts also hold the front antiroll bar bushes in place – if so anyone knows if they are a PIA to get back in situ as I assume you are working blind as such.

Cheers All

Nice job, I have reused the bolts and refitted with Studlock, had no issues.

Cheers for that, will re use and thread lock, thank for the heads up.

Done diffs and transfer on my shogun before so not expecting any difficulties but on the basis I can ask the forum all advice helps things go more smoothly.

Thanks

I'm inspired, got next week of work so after I've fixed the oil leak, I'll finish replacing the front wheel bearing, I'm waiting on a dust cover, the original was nearly rusted away which is probably how the water got in and finished of the wheel bearing. I'll then have a go at the engine bay, yours looks good.

Thanks Henrym3,

Really wanted to crack on with diffs but elected i needed more info rather than ploughing on and cocking up - and its piXXing down most of the time !!

Pleased it cleaned up well and to be fair it was only a bit of degreaser, elbow grease and time - chuffed with results .
