other day i got the dredded pdc fault, went round and listened to them all ticking , rear outer right wasn't ticking , easy fix

made the mistake of letting my mate help out , he used a thin screwdriver to pop the outer part off, then pulled sensor from the rear, after he had done it , (I was making brews)
how the hell to these go back together

outer part, inner part and pdc
cheers
steve

When I changed one of my rear ones on my old E53 I put my hand in the removable exhaust comer on the rear valance and pulled on the tab at the bottom of the sensor housing, this enables the rear part to slide over the sensor housing and you extract the sensor towards you and then unplug it once out.
Sounds like he's broken off the outside part.
Look on real OEM and they do the two piece holder.

I used a trim removal tool, it is held in with 4 tangs I seem to remember, not difficult to remove, and just press back in after, access to the sensors isn't bad once removed , feel inside for the tab at the bottom of the sensor housing and pull.

looks like the sensor housing isn't damaged at all, at least he didn't break it , I just got to fathom out how to remove that cover, google , isn't really showing any results, i dont think i explained 100% brilliant though in the OP he removed the outer part of the cover and then pulled the sensor back resulting in just a bare empty hole where the housing should be
weathers not THAT bad today , so I'm going to have a play today
