I have changed my aftermarket unit to one of the Android type.
Problem i have is the new unit needs a 12v input from reverse lights.
Being disabled i am limited to how much crawling about i can do.
My question is can i get a 12v from the PDC button up front i don't think the unit needs any power as such just a signal to say reverse is selected.

I've had a couple of aftermarket headunits that have had the green wire to tap into the reverse light circuit but I havnt needed to wire it in as it picked up the signal via the canbus interface on the X5 ( Dynavin, it used to display the PDC, as do IDrive models with the car and coloured radar fan  system on screen )
My Golf has a RCA video cable from the camera to the headunit, I had to tap in the camera to the reverse lights but when the camera was powered up it automatically switched the headunit to rear video view.
Maybe all headunits won't work the same,

This is my third unit and was an upgrade to android.
My last 2 where win-ce bought 4 years ago and they both just worked as yours did.
This one has the extra wire as did the one i sent back as faulty (Different make cr@p).
I have found a thin wire on the back of the PDC switch that get's 12v when i press the button but not tried it yet in case i blow something.
Hoping somebody on here will put me right if not i will have to run a cable the full length of the car again.
