SatNav Upgrade - Will a 7" screen fit a standard pre-facelift?

Hi,

I am currently searching for an pre-facelift X5 3.0d as a daily driver, and the forum has been hugely useful. However, i haven't been able to answer this question using the search system:

Can a 7" screen be fitted to a car that doesn't already have the sat nav option, just the standard two-part display/CD player?

I've got a bit lost with what's actuallly behind the installation. Not having a car yet, i can't take one apart to find out!

If so, presumably there are still benefits to having the OEM satnav so you can use the GPS receiver?

Yes it will fit.
I have just taken one like that out and fitted the newer type one that has the 9" screen.
Plenty of fitting info on the net as well.
