Braking Judder- change front discs and pads first?

I don’t drive the old X much any more as my other half inherited it when I got the E70.......when driving it to the dealers for the warranty repairs to the door carrier etc I noticed quite a judder through the brake pedal when braking at low speeds, although the brakes work as they should its rather disconcerting. I am thinking its likely a warped disc on the front?  Should I start by having new front discs and pads?  All the discs and pads currently visually in good shape but discs were last changed about 6 years ago.

Hang on until you’ve done your front suspension arms, it might go after you’ve done all those

I had exactly this & found it was a seized caliper.... the disk heats up & warps with the heat... and some times also creates a wobble thru the steering if it gets hot enough.

Easy to detect.... do a journey of 5 miles +, & when you stop, prod the front calipers thru the wheel slots... if you got one much hotter than the other side.... there's your issue.

Refitting the calipers with a repair kit of pistons & seals is not a difficult job, but must be entrusted to a good garage if you are not TOTALLY sure of what you are doing.

Feel the wheel / alloy around the wheel nut area first, if that is hotter, be careful going anywhere near the disc.
I found out the hard way when I had a sticking calliper, I no longer have a finger print on my index finger as it was melted on to the disc

 Will get the local garage to take a look when the suspension is done, not keen on melted fingertips!
